This has been a fairly non-productive week. I had plans two evenings this week and my daughters first sleepover birthday party last night. Needless to say, these events severely limited the amount of time I was able to devote to reading and blogging.
Book Club
One of those evenings out, however, was for my book club. I suppose I can count that toward “bookish” time. We read My Father Before Me. More accurately, I should say that’s the book we were supposed to read. Several ladies, myself included, started the book and just couldn’t get through it. The consensus among those that finished it seemed to be that it was in the just-okay-to-not-very-good range.
On a positive note, I think we agreed that the dinner we shared was pretty darn good. We ate at Lavagna which was not exactly easy to get to but worth the effort. It can be tough to find a restaurant in NYC that will accommodate a large party without asking me to guarantee thousands of dollars in sales. The folks at Lavagna were great to work with. The manager returned my call within a day and gave us a great pre-fixe menu. When we arrived, we were seated promptly and the service was great all evening. The food was delicious and the wines the manager suggested were spot-on. Sadly, I didn’t take any pictures of the meal.
This Week
This week I posted my first Top Ten Tuesday post. I found it to be a bit of a challenge as I’m not a big movie buff. It was fun, though, and I’m looking forward to this weeks TTT post!
I posted reviews of Cruel Beautiful World and And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer .
I had a great book mail day. Three books I’m really looking forward to reading came on the same day!
I’m almost finished with Inherit the Bones and really liking it but I can’t call the rating just yet. The ending is key to mystery/thrillers and I’ve been fooled before!
Next Week
I would like to say I believe I’ll make great progress this week but that would be a lie. Holiday weeks are hectic. I think I’ll just take the pressure off myself right now. Whatever I do, I do. The rest will remain in my (wholly unmanageable) TBR or WIP piles.
Thanks for reading. Have a great week!
So glad you’re enjoying Inherit the ones; I loved that one too!
It’s a page-tuner! I’m really hoping to finish it tonight!
